Ingredients (for 30 plus servings – amounts can be cut for smaller volumes)
4 bottles Charles R Vino de Amor Port
2 bottles Charles R 2016 Zinfandel (or your favorite red wine)
1-3lbs fresh cranberries
4-8 oranges (cut into small triangles)
Orange peels (from 2 of the oranges)
4-6 small lemons (all used for the peels)
Pomegranate (optional)
Cinnamon sticks
1 Orange juice concentrate (frozen)
1 cup cane sugar
*Any left over fruit or cinnamon sticks can be used for garnish
Holiday Infused simple syrup
Bring 1/2 gallon water to boil and add about 1 cup cane sugar
You can make this more or less sweet depending on your preference. Once boiling, add orange peels, lemon peels, cinnamon sticks and reduce heat. Allow to simmer 2-4 minutes. Add fresh cranberries and simmer for no more than 5 additional minutes. Drain solids from syrup and set both aside to cool – at this point, boiled peels can be discarded.
In a large bowl or beverage dispenser, add equal parts:
Charles R Vino de Amor Port
Charles R red wine
Add 1 entire orange juice concentrate and stir to integrate.
Once simple syrup has cooled, add 1/2 cup at a time, until preferred sweetness is reached.
*Save extra simple syrup for amazing hot toddies or other great holiday cocktails!
After all major adjustments have been made, add all the fruit you like! Save leftover fruit for garnish. Refrigerate for anywhere from 4-48 hours before serving
To assemble:
Fill a wine glass (or any other wide mouthed glass) with ice. Fill with Holiday Sangria. Garnish with orange slice, infused cranberries and full length cinnamon stick. Sip, enjoy, repeat!
