Description

Tasting Notes    This Barbera boasts a mid-weight palate and shows a bright and bold cherry note that carries through from the nose through the finish.  This will make it a perfect partner to grilled meats, tomato based pasta dishes, pizzas and mushroom risotto.

The fruit profile gives cherry, earth and spice on the nose, while following through to fresh mixed berries and toasty caramel.  There is a structured earthiness that provides balance and complexity to the fruit that leads the show.  This wine shows well at first pour, and continues to open up over the course of several hours.  Ready to drink and share now. Only 49 cases produced – this wine won’t last long!

Vineyard
Tracy Hills AVA is one of California’s youngest designated appellations.  The Ramon Rios Vineyard is a moderately well-drained, fine textured site, located at the base of the Tracy Hills near Mount Oso. Hot dry summers and cool moist winters characterize the area.

Winemaking
The heat of Tracy Hills often gives us the earliest reds of the season, and this was no exception. Crush was followed by a cold soak in the cellar before beginning fermentation.

Fermentation
Whole berry fermentation in macro bins with punch downs twice per day allowed for a complete and predictable fermentation.  Primary fermentation was followed by malolactic fermentation before aging.

Aging
Aged 33 months in neutral French and American oak

Interests
Debut novels and albums, mixed-media sculpture, homemade pizza, impulsive Amazon purchases and Tik Tok rabbit holes.
