NOTES

Vineyard
Tracy Hills AVA is one of California’s youngest designated appellations.  The Ramon Rios Vineyard is a moderately well-drained, fine textured site, located at the base of the Tracy Hills near Mount Oso. Hot dry summers and cool moist winters characterize the area.

Winemaking
Crush was followed by a cold soak in the cellar before beginning fermentation.

Fermentation
Whole berry fermentation in macro bins with punch downs twice per day allowed for a complete and predictable fermentation.  Primary fermentation was followed by malolactic fermentation before aging.

Aging
Aged 24 months in neutral French and American oak

Tasting Notes
This Sangiovese is light and dry, lending itself to easy sipping.  The acidity is firm, as is typical of the varietal, making it the perfect food wine for all things Italian.  Notes of red plum, bright red currant and black cherry are complimented with subtle hints of baking spice and white pepper.

No need to think too hard about this wine.  Place it on the table alongside any tomato-based pizza or pasta, and it will blend right in!  You may notice a bit of sediment in the bottle, but this harmless byproduct of bottle aging doesn’t take away one bit of those bright fruit flavors.
