It was Panda-monium last week when we continued our Wine of the Month/Fast Food pairing series:
This time it was this month’s featured wine, Bobcat Red, with a plethora of menu selections from Panda Express.
We began by revisiting the Bobcat on its own – easy drinking, medium acidity, lovely layers of fruit, spice and tea all politely showcasing one another without anyone taking up too much space or attention.
Then came the food….
Chow mein and fried rice – ok – easy to love, easy to pair. A great foundation to work around the rest of the table –
But then came Black pepper steak, Kungpao Chicken and Honey walnut shrimp, and here’s where it gets exciting! The pepper, the chili oil, the sweet tang of the prawns – all played perfect off the Bobcat!
Moving on to the savory Eggplant tofu and mixed veggies was delectable –
But the real standout – a surprise for all of us – were the Veggie Spring rolls. These little rolls pack a punch of flavor with a hint of spice and fresh ginger. The GINGER and The Bobcat were the most delightful and surprising match of the day!
And while it may seem like we just really enjoy wine and food in any combination, (I mean, we do, but…) this was yet another super fun pairing with some fare that doesn’t always get a fair shake when it comes to wine.
